Production notes
This work is known from reviews of Original Poetry by Beverley Suttor (Sydney: James Tegg, 1838) in the Sydney Gazette and New South Wales Advertiser (15 November 1838, p. 2) and the Colonist (28 November 1838, p. 3), where it is noted that the eccentric poetaster’s pamphlet includes a portrait of the author. While the ‘zincographed’ portrait is there credited to Edward Barlow, who had taken over the business of Rodius’s printer James Austin, a later article (Australian, 21 September 1842, p. 2) clarifies the authorship: ‘At Tegg's Fancy Bazaar, is now on view, the portrait of Beverly Suttor, Esq., by Rhodius.’ [David Hansen 2023]
