Biography

John Skeaping
 
John Rattenbury Skeaping, born in 1901, was educated at Royal Academy Schools and in 1924 was a Rome Scholar. He designed fourteen animal figures for Wedgwood in 1927, at least twelve of which were produced. From 1948 to 1949 he worked with Zapotec potters in Mexico and from 1953 to 1959 was Professor of Sculpture at the Royal College of Art, London.
 
He died on 5 March 1980.
