Biography
Abraham Simmons received his training as a carver and guilder under the tuition of his father, Reverend Barnett Asher Simmons (Penzance, Devon, England) and his brother Moses Barnett Simmons (London, England). Abraham immigrated to Australia at the age of twenty. Shortly after arriving, he worked as a builder in Melbourne. He married and moved to Ballarat, Victoria, where he worked as a furniture dealer and picture framer from 1854 until his death in 1908.
