Ellis Rowan
Marian Ellis Rowan, née Ryan, was born in Melbourne in 1848. A self taught painter she pursued her subjects, flowers and birds, in their native habitat and in so doing penetrated remote parts of Northern Australia, New Guinea, the Pacific Islands and America.
