CATHERINE MONEY, born 1961, first exhibited 2004, Mixed media artists’ book Catherine Money is a Sunshine Coast visual artist, educator, curator and environmental support officer. Exploring notions of art and science, Catherine’s art practice examines the vulnerability of ecosystems and observes the impact of humans on the natural world. With a love of coastal heathlands, Catherine strives to raise awareness of their need for protection. Experimenting with and working in varying mediums her work addresses our relationship with nature through a diverse range of artistic skills extending from public sculpture to delicate drypoint prints. Printmaking, however, has always been a favourite. Catherine finds great pleasure, and relaxation, in the simple act of carving a lino surface or inscribing a copper plate. She enjoys exploring different working surfaces and integrating unconventional media to create immersive environments that navigate the interconnections between all living forms.
