The Following Particulars
are explanatory of the

Phillip-Stephan Process

THE INVENTORS of the Process are SAMUEL PHILLIPS and ADAM STEPHAN. The former is a photographer and the last named is a lithographic printer. For some three years past, they have, in a cellar situated in Woolloomooloo, worked hard and continuously to perfect this discovery, which combines the knowledge of both trades. It is almost needless to add that though they met with what appeared insurmountable difficulties during that period, their industry and patience enabled them at last to reach the summit of their ambition (which has been the aim of scientific photographers for the past twenty years). Towards the end of last year (1887), a Company was formed and successfully floated, styling itself the “Phillip-Stephan Photo-Litho. and Typographic Process Co., Limited,” and, with their aid, the Process has advanced to that stage which enables them to show the world.

A NEW DISCOVERY IN PHOTO-LITHO. ART

Its principle and main features are: That in a simple, cheap and expeditious manner, any photo-negative can be placed upon stone, metal, china or other substance, giving all the delicate detail that no living artist would attempt to produce; and having done so, the stone may be worked in an ordinary litho. machine, or the zinc-work may be used in a common printing process. Its incalculable worth is the COMMERCIAL VALUE of the Process, which discloses an invention that will adapt itself to every branch of commerce, by producing fac-similes of Nature Portraits, Animal Life, Re-productions of Oil Paintings and Water Colours, Buildings (external and internal), Machinery, Furniture, Carriages, Plans, Posters, Almanacs, Catalogue Work, and manufacturers of every kind, at such a price, and in so expeditious a manner that success is assured.
