The Lithographic Artists and Engravers’ Club held their first anniversary supper at the Cathedral Hotel last night when about 50 gentlemen sat down to what was in effect a first class dinner. The president of the club, Mr Ludwig Lang, occupied the chair, and after the usual loyal toasts had been honoured proposed Our Club. He stated that when the club was started he had grave doubts as to its permanency, as there were so many associations of a social nature already in existence; but he was happy to say this his fears had proved groundless, and now the club numbered in its ranks nearly all those who were professionally eligible to become members. He referred to the section of the club in trying to secure protection against foreign lithographic work, and predicted that good would eventually come from their efforts in that direction. The only other toasts were Kindred Societies and Guests and the Ladies, after which an excellent programme of musical selections and recitations was gone through.
