Production notes

Artists comment: 'Air graphic' printed on Japanese lightweight paper (c. 374 grams) is in six colours on zinc. The first plate, printed in black, is taken from notes drawn from the air. Two greens, printed on the reverse of paper, suggest ground pattern. A linear plate in ochre indicates roads and byways. Two more colours, red-orange and opaque blue-grey complete the design. Opaque colour, clear surface colour and reverse of paper colour, give a slight suggestion of third dimension. My press, an adapted mangle recently motorized, has steel rollers replacing those of wood, through which runs a steel and wood bed with a rubber blanket. Though not perfect, it has proved an efficient press. Art [& Australia, vol. 19, no. 2, p. 153, summer 1981, 153]
