Biography

Clifford Bayliss

Clifford William Bayliss was born in Melbourne and studied at the National Gallery School from 1931 to1935. While a student he experimented with linocuts, a technique he learnt from John Flexmore. In 1935 he won the Travelling Scholarship, and was studying in London at the time of Buzacott’s visit in 1937. After the war, he worked at the Royal Covent Garden Opera House till 1965 when he began teaching at the Croydon Art School.
