Bruno Leti gift to Mildura Art Gallery. - Thursday, 1 December 2005 Melbourne based printmaker and painter Bruno Leti has given 8 of his prints to the Mildura Art Gallery. An exhibition of his work was shown at the gallery in 2004.

Megalo 25 years on. - Sunday, 20 November 2005To celebrate 25 years of Megalo (Megalo Access Arts Canberr), 25 artists associated with the print workshop, were invited to produce a print. The 25 x 25 portfolio, will be lauunched at a celebratory exhibition opening on Saturday 5 November 2005. The exhibition will be opened by Roger Butler (who produced a poster at Megalo in 1982). The fully illustrated catalogue was funded by the Gordon Darling Foundation.

Plastered. Poster art of Australian popular music - Thursday, 10 November 2005 Jim Keays will launch Plastered: the poster art of Australian Popular music, at the Cherry Bar, AC/DC Lane, behind 103 Flinders Lane, Melbourne on 18 November 2006. The book by Murray Walding with Nick Vukovic is a celebration of popular music posters in Australia from the 1950s to today.

Anne McDonald and Kirsty Grant recipients of Harold White Scholarship. - Tuesday, 1 November 2005The Harold Wright Scholarship for study in the Print Room at The British Museum, has been awarded to Kirsty Grant, Curator of Australian Prints and Drawings at the National Gallery of Victoria, and Anne McDonald, Curator of Prints and Drawings at the National Gallery of Australia. Kirsty will be at the British Museum in the first half of 2006 and Anne in the second part of the year.

Libris Awards: The Australian Artists' Book Prize. - Tuesday, 25 October 2005The Libris Awards are open to artists living and working anywhere in Australia (Australian citizen or resident of Australia). There will be three catagories: > National Artists' Book Award (aquisitive) > Regional Artists' Book award (aquisitive). > Young and Emerging Artists' Book Award (aquisitive). 10th Sydney Art on Paper Fair. - Friday, 1 July 2005The 10th Sydney Art on Paper Fair (SAPF) will be held at the Byron Kennedy Hall, Moore Park, Sydney, Australia from 27 July-31 July 2005. First held in 1989 (as the International Master Print Fair), the event it dedication "to internatioanality and not only guides but also sets SAPF apart from any other art fair in the Asia Pacific Region". This year ther will be 38 exhibitors including participants from from Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, France, Scotland and New York. " Mike Parr: Four decades of practice" is an overview of the prolific practice of this leading Australian artist that will include 30 major works from the past 40 years and a site specific live performance and new sculptural installation." Margaret Preston: Art and Life. - Tuesday, 28 June 2005 Margaret Preston: Art and Life is a major exhibition of one of Australias most popular and influential painters and printmakers. Born in Adelaide in 1875 Preston studied in Europe before making her home in Sydney in 1920. She was an avid traveller, visiting Japan, China, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, South East Asia and India. The exhibition opens at the Art Gallery of New South Wales on the 28 July 2005.

Jane Messenger awarded Harold Wright Scholarship to British Museum. - Wednesday, 1 December 2004Jane Messenger, the Art Gallery of South Australia’s Associate Curator of Prints, Drawings & Photographs is the winner of this year’s prestigious Harold Wright Scholarship to study at the British Museum in London. The Harold Wright Scholarship, offered annually through the University of Melbourne, gives the recipient privileged access to research the world’s largest and finest print collection. Ms Messenger will undertake intensive study in London from July to December 2005 to trace the development of the Western print tradition and develop her print connoisseurship. Ms Messenger commenced as the Gallery’s Assistant Curator of Prints, Drawings & Photographs in November 2002 and was recently promoted to the rank of Associate Curator. She curated the Gallery’s highly successful exhibition Japanese Prints: Images from the Floating World (2004) and was author of the accompanying book. She was the co-ordinating curator in Adelaide for the Gallery’s current Australians in Hollywood exhibition touring from the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra. [AGSA press release]
